Guests attending the Ladies Luncheon during International Bowl Expo in Reno, Nevada will be treated to a very inspirational afternoon June 25, according to the Bowling Proprietors' Association (BPAA), the voice of the bowling industry. New York City Police Deputy Inspector Theresa C. Tobin, who was a first-responder to the World Trade Center Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, will be guest speaker at the luncheon honoring BPAA "First Lady" Linda Snyder, Monday, June 25 at the Eldorado Hotel and Casino.

The Ladies Luncheon, presented by the Bowling Organization for Women's Leadership (BOWL), is a special opportunity for all women attending Bowl Expo to honor their heroes and will provide a unique time to mingle with former BPAA "First Ladies," industry leaders and fellow proprietors while enjoying a wonderful lunch and inspiring presentation.

"Deputy Inspector Tobin's first-person account of that day will inspire and encourage all attendees," said Steve Johnson, BPAA executive director. "Her story of heroism and bravery amid the chaos of that day is absolutely riveting and will no doubt be a highlight for everyone who attends the luncheon."

Tobin, a New York City native continued a family legacy by becoming one of "New York's Finest" in 1983. She has moved up the ranks, including Captain, to her current position as Deputy Inspector of the country's largest police department.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, Tobin was a first responder at the scene after the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center were hit by two aircraft. Escorting a photographer when one of the towers fell, Deputy Inspector Tobin was blown across the street, buried in debris and injured when a piece of debris pierced her ballistic helmet, splitting it in two and lodging in her skull. Injured, Tobin worked with EMS personnel to free others from debris and direct even more people from the building.

Tobin holds a Ph.D in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York at Albany and is a 1997 graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy in Quantico, Va., as well as a 2007 graduate of the Police Management Institute at Columbia's Graduate School of Business. She is also the NYPD's representative on the New York City Mayor's Commission on Women's Issues.

The Ladies Luncheon is an optional event not included with registration and requires an additional fee. The luncheon is part of an exciting Bowl Expo week where, for the first time ever, Bowling's U.S. Women's Open, bowling's preeminent professional women's tournament, will hold its finals at night under the famous Reno Arch on Virginia Street. Also, the first-ever Senior U.S. Women's Open will be held and a champion crowned. The championships, scheduled to air July 3, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPN 2, are all part of an American celebration befitting the nation's number one participatory sport, complete with fireworks and numerous other surprises.
